hello friends, bloggers and everyone!

While penning my first ever blog article, I brainstormed for ideas, topics and subjects to fan my fire of imagination. Nothing came up..for hours I was staring at my laptop screen...not a single word typed!

That's when my phone buzzed with an SMS from my friend. it was a forwarded joke, over which i giggled...but then i thought how far have we come? gone are those days when we would set out in groups..free birds ready to paint the streets red, blue and green..wandering..screaming..laughing...

but today all that packed in SMS forwards, and other techno-messages

I got my topic :)

I’d like to take all of you back in time – 80 years ago - My grandparents lead a quiet and peaceful life in a village. Grandfather was a man of few words but his quiet authority and love was never in doubt. My grandmother seemed more in communication with her God and Goddesses in her puja room than with her husband. Life was uncomplicated.

Flash forward! – Back to present times – Picture the Nokia television ad that you are familiar with.  Proud parents with a baby in their arms, and on the other side of the subcontinent - the grandparents listening to the baby gurgle on their phone. Nokia - connecting people!

Times indeed have changed! And so have the way we communicate. Centuries ago, we were beating drums and sending smoke signals! Today – A mere click of a button and the message is delivered!!
But what has this lead to?

Facebook, Whatsapp,  BBM ...all have earned an inevitable place in out lives...and internet....OMG can we even survive an hour without it??

Remember the joy of receiving a greeting card by mail on your birthday? They seem to be a thing of the past now – replaced with hundreds of birthday wishes on your Facebook wall from people who may not even be concerned of your existence.

Gone are the days of the telegraphic language where you had to cough out money for each word of your message. Now – Even what one had for lunch finds its way into their Facebook status. Frankly my dear, who cares?

Too Late to feel sorry? Smart phones and social networking sites are here in our lives to stay. If I were to discontinue their use now, I’d be the odd one out due to the dependencies we all have brought on ourselves.
I can only imagine how my parents and their friends must be feeling about the changing technology. The wheels are turning just too fast. Or am I just getting too old? Wait – don’t answer that!

quite frankly, if given a chance, I would love to return to the good old days when Apple and Blackberry were just fruits!! And as you read this..do peep into your brother's, sister's room..meet your dad down the hallway..or just go to the kitchen to meet your mom..just to smile, say hello...and enjoy the wonderment on their faces

Ciao for Now
